UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus Awards

The UAA confers the UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus awards in the following categories:

  • Academics
  • Research
  • Extra-mural accomplishments
  • Entrepreneur
  • Professional

These Awards are given on two occasions.

  • The awards in the Entrepreneur and Professional categories are given on Technology Day (May 11);
  • The awards in the Academics, Research & Extra-Mural categories are given on the UDCT Alumni Annual Day celebrations, generally scheduled in December of each year. This year (2016) the event will be held on December.

To the extent possible, excepting in the Entrepreneur and the Extra-mural categories, accomplishments in the Chemical Science as taught in the undergraduate courses at ICT will be taken into account.

Number of awards

A maximum of two awards will be given in each of the DA categories, except for the Extra-Mural category where a maximum of one award would be given each year.

The committee would, however, under special circumstances, overrule this.

Essential requirement

  1. All nominees must be Life members of UAA and signed up with their photograph uploaded on the UAA website, www.udctalumni.org.in
  2. Nominees must confirm their presence at the award ceremony at ICT.
  3. Nominees must show willingness for continuous engagement with ICT

All nominators and nominees are requested to read specific criteria related to each award and submit the nomination in the prescribed format. 

Call fornominations

The present call for nominations is for the following three categories:

  • ENTREPRENEUR
  • PROFESSIONAL
  • UAA Young Achiever

UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus Award – ENTREPRENEUR

ICT alumni who have set up their own Enterprise (manufacturing, consultancy, commerce, in any field) qualify for this award.  In essence, they should be the FIRST GENERATION ENTREPRENEURS.

The main criteria for selection of the awardees are: 

1.1) Nature of the enterprise

1.2) The turnover (although not a primary criteria)

1.3) How much employment has been generated by the Enterprise in India?

1.4) Any recognition received by the entrepreneur or the firm from government/ professional organizations?

1.5) What challenges were overcome or what have been the distinctive milestones of success?

1.6) How well the Entrepreneur has displayed an alignment with, and adoption of, the learning obtained at ICT?

All alumni are requested to nominate other alumni whom they feel is/are worthy of receiving this award.

Nominations for the UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus Award ENTREPRENEUR must reach the UAA office on or before 15th March, 2016.

UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus Award – PROFESSIONAL

ICT alumni who have been in the  Industry/ other professional organization in a related field,  for a minimum of 15 years qualify for this award.

The main criteria for selection of the awardees are:

4.1) Career growth, current position and the recognition of the institute/ size of the industry

4.2) Contributions in the field based on increased turnover, new management strategies introduced, financial success, new products

4.3) Recognition/Awards received from  professional bodies/mentors/ the company

4.4) Contribution to society

All alumni are requested to nominate other alumni whom they feel is/are worthy of receiving this award.

Nominations for the UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus Award – PROFESSIONAL must reach the UAA office on or before 15th March, 2016.

UAA-ICT Distinguished Alumnus Award – UAA Young Achiever

Alumni of ICT are achieving significant milestones at a young age, and the UAA feels strongly that these need to be recognised in a timely way. Towards this objective, the UAA has instituted ‘UAA Young Achiever Award’ to be given on the UAA’s Foundation Day (May 11).

The main criteria for selection of the awardees are:

  1. The inspirational quotient of the achievements of the alumnus.
  2. The relative standing of the achievement of the alumnus as compared to her/his peers.
  3. Recognition(s) received by the alumnus by institutional/national/international bodies.

All alumni are requested to nominate other alumni whom they feel is/are worthy of receiving this award.
